INTERNET PROVIDER OUTAGE CAUSES LOWELL’S 100.3 TO DROP

This Sunday morning it appears by monitoring a Facebook group dedicated to certain internet outages that our 1003 FM is not on the air.

By FCC regulation, any time there is no audio detected at the transmitter site, the transmitter has to shut down until audio returns.  Our audio is handled by two different internet companies, Spectrum (Formerly Charter) in Ionia and Point Broadband fiber in Lowell.  A drop in service on either end will cause audio to cease at our City-of-Lowell owned Transmitter site.

The Facebook group posts indicate a very WIDE outage in Michigan, some posting from Big Rapids, Alma, Cedar Springs, Lowell, even in Ionia.

There is no other way except via the internet to get our audio to Lowell, so we are always at the mercy of two internet Service Providers.

As of this writing, we have been given no time of restoration, but being this large of an outage we hope it is not too long.

Just wanted you to know we’re aware of this, and helpless to change the situation, but we do care about your loss of our signal.

You can always use any “non Point Broadband” powered device and go to our website of www.i1430.com or, go to live365.com  and select WION Radio Ionia to hear our stream which originates in AM stereo in Ionia where Charter/Spectrum or our Starlink system will keep the music streaming to you.
