Normally I don’t put “events” on this page, but…with the (Theatre’s decision) change from Monday evenings to Sunday Matinee screenings, attendance has changed for WION’s “Free Movies” and, quite honestly, not for the best. I believe that movie attendance would be better if returned to Monday nights. After all, an average night finds a handful of cars enjoying Ionia’s historic theatre for NEW RELEASE movies…and when we had our movies on Mondays, the lowest attendance was around 75 people which is GREAT for the theatre in terms of concessions bought and volunteers’ time put to good use.
It’s been much less on the Matinee days.
So…..please let us know at WION which time period YOU prefer, (We’ll pass along your thoughts to the theatre…) and please plan to attend the matinee of a GREAT 1980’s movie this month, just in time for Halloween. Ghostbusters in digital picture and sound on Ionia’s HUGE screen will be a FREE treat!

When we're not bringing you Jim and Justin or Edwards' Archives, or our Noon Newsblock, or "Totally 80's Flashback" or...Turntable Trainwrecks, or Popeye John's Monday Night Classic Rock"....or Barry Scott's Lost 45's....we're still working hard to bring you a great station with music and information EVERY hour!
