For many years, WION Celebrated what began as “92-7 Night” at the Lamplight Grill.  It was a way of promoting the Grill and…our (then) new FM signal for Ionia County.  It became “WION Night” as we grew to add our 1003 FM in Lowell/Eastern Kent County and the streaming of our live AM stereo sound!  A HUGE thank you goes out to Rich Thompson and his Lamplight Grill for years of great gatherings on Thursdays in Downtown Ionia!

Fast Forward!

It’s September 2023!  WION is proud to announce via the web, the NEW Thursday night “hangout” for WION Night is…..drum roll please…..”The Bowling Alley & Four Friars’ Restaurant in Ionia!” For those that don’t know, the Bowling Alley is on North Dexter, just north of the Shell station!

Ron’s got some great specials ready to roll, so start the habit ANY Thursday….and enjoy some Grinders, Pizza, other sandwiches, breadsticks, Ranch-Fries or other sides, adult beverages, LOCAL cola flavors from West Michigan….and more!

Now, on the “Bowling” ….side….how about forming a 4-person team to be part of the “Bad Bowler’s League” which begins October 5th! and runs thru December 14th?  You don’t have to be GOOD, and it’s not a “serious” league…but there will be prizes for first, second, and LAST place to win…at $12 per person per week…which is CHEAP, fun entertainment!  Call the Bowling Alley to sign up now….and…have some GREAT food as you enjoy bowling.

So, come for the great food on the restaurant side,  or….Come for the bowling AND food on the bowling side, but either way, make “The Bowling Alley/Four Friars” in Ionia your new Thursday night hangout…and show support for this local business and local radio!

It has come to our attention that the Michigan News Network is once again accepting (if not soliciting) advertisements either directly FROM political candidates for federal positions, OR their "PACs." The Michigan News Network is delivered via the internet, not satellite, so we are not able to edit out political […]

Apologies to Barry Scott Lost 45 Listeners…

Apparently not all of the segments for the countdown this week made it to "air" on WION. While there is no reschedule of this three-hour program feature, you CAN catch his segments missed on his website this week.  Barry always releases the show on his site AFTER they've played on […]
