Another Beautiful Day, Another Power Outage In Ionia
Seems to have more occurrences on "nice" days than when we have weather emergencies! Just Sayin.

WION welcomed members of the West Michigan and Lansing S.B.E. chapters (Society of broadcast Engineers) for their annual picnic on our lawn this evening. So, for awhile, WION had the SMARTEST backyard anywhere in the United States or maybe even the world. Engineers chatting with we, the "normal" people...lol...and exchanging stories. Believe me, Radio engineers have GREAT stories to tell. Popeye John was our Chef for the night, on a […]
Justin's Summer fun....you never know where he may show up with a fishing rod and reel...but when he's not "on the air" he's likely "on the water" or at least near it!
During the midday show today, Izzy was chewing on something.....as she sat just behind Justin.... And THIS is what she had in her mouth...
In the wee hours of July 31st, as this is written, a power outage has affected WION which is operating on generator. Consumers' Energy map shows two major "lobes" of outage, Haynor road studios of WION just barely in one of them. There is no Estimated time of restoration for this...but, as usual, it comes NOT during a storm, NOT during high winds, and NOT with any direct connection to […]
Justin at the helm of WION during a show, with a little help from my dog, Izzy. Justin is taking some personal time off, (he started on Monday.)...and, I'm not exactly sure when he'll be back "on" but I'm sure it'll be soon. Just wanted to stop by your devices and assure you that the J and J show is returning, and...while it's been some time since I worked alone […]
Tell the Oakwood you "read this on the radio!" I'm pretty picky about my burgers...and my Chili. The Oakwood Lounge answers my needs in Eastern Ionia County with the BEST burgers since the Lamplight in Ionia! We congratulate them on 1 year of being reopened...with GREAT service, a friendly environment, great food, and your favorite summer beverages, too! Congratulations from WION! -Carlyle
You may have heard Jim Carlye on the radio over the past nearly 20 years talk about his love of "vintage" electronics. The studios of WION have many vintage radios, some unique TV sets, and other oddities on display that came from his home when he moved to Ionia. Hello! It's me, Jim. ...and the latest of my projects is two vintage TV sets from teh 1960's. They're appropriately called […]
The Data service from WION is SO useful! We're enjoying the expanded possibilities!
