As provided-to and published by “Lowell’s First Look” and we thank them!
WION Radio has been a partner with local Lowell businesses, most notably the Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce for many years. Liz Baker, former Chamber director now retired from the Chamber first advertised on WION when we had ONLY an A.M. Station in Ionia, but found it effective in bringing people to “Christmas on the Lowell Showboat” many years ago, and a wonderful relationship with Lowell was born.
Fast forward a few years, and WION enlarged it’s AM signal to cover more of the I-96 and M-21 corridors, and to better serve an expanded area for those who travel and wanted to enjoy WION for longer in their vehicles, including travel through and around Lowell.
We converted to AM stereo to provide an excellent streaming product which is now available from Live 365 on the web, and on any Amazon or Google Device. We even have our own “skill” with Amazon, called “AM Stereo”. When you use that, the commercials from Tune-In Radio (carrier for online services like Google and Amazon) are minimized or eliminated at the start-up of our playback. Most people don’t even believe it’s REAL AM RADIO that they are hearing, but, indeed, it is…with incredible fidelity of sound that ANY AM can achieve with the proper care and engineering.
We added FM 92.7 in Ionia County, then, when the FCC allowed it, Lowell’s 100.3 was born, and based on the positive reactions from listeners at this year’s (and former years’) Lowell Community Expo…we are well received in and around Eastern Kent County. We appreciate our Lowell area advertisers SO very much!
There are occasional issues getting the signal to our transmitter site because we deal with two different internet services to do so, one on our “studio end” and one at the 100.3 transmitter site. We’ve had THREE different providers of internet at that site, in an effort to remain as stable and reliable as possible, but occasionally we have to just admit that the internet is NOT a “science” yet, nor is it like other utilities we expect to have reliably supplying us 24/7/365….but we do what we can to keep you entertained and informed with our 100.3 FM in Lowell.
We have our own website. We’re able to control content, provide “show notes” about our midday show and other things we’re doing at WION, and, it’s an easy way to contact us. We’ve always maintained that EVERY BUSINESS owner should have their own “domain” (name on the web) and not rely on third parties like Facebook. We believe this strongly. Facebook, when relied-upon for business decides FOR you WHO sees your posts. It’s not advertising. It’s not guaranteed coverage, and it’s NOT in your control. A website, owned and operated by a business, on the other hand, IS.
Thus, WION does NOT operate any Facebook pages or presence at all. Our entire collection of content is only found at www.i1430.com where you can contact us, meet us, submit public events for us to help with awareness, ideas, comments, and more.
If you SEE any “fan pages” or pages claiming to BE WION Radio, they are NOT OURS. We do not post as a radio station to anyone’s pages, we do not endorse Facebook, nor should you consider ANY site calling itself WION “ours.” It is not. Any posts of any kind are not our opinions, nor are they authorized. Anyone using our logo is doing so, without our permission, and, at least ONE was specifically told NOT TO develop a page as our content is owned by us, and copyrighted.
Please REPORT any pages you may find that “pretend” to be WION Radio from Ionia. NONE are authorized, none are our own content, and no material of ours, be it logo, pictures, staff likenesses, or posts are that of WION’s staff nor it’s ownership.
A huge thank you goes out to “Lowell’s First Look” for allowing us to clarify this, and to THANK OUR LISTENERS AND ADVERTISERS from the Lowell area. We appreciate you, and are trying hard to make sure you have great local radio, and that Lowell is presented in a good way on the airwaves in West Central Michigan, by WION.
