Today’s trivia question was in “riddle” form….kind-of.

I HAVE TRAVELLED THROUGH MANY EMPIRES AND THROUGH MANY MORE YEARS

DESPITE MY ORIGIN I HAVE BEEN AFRICAN, MEDITERANIAN, FRENCH, AND EVEN BRITISH

I HAVE SPENT MOST OF MY EXISTENCE HIDDEN AWAY INCLUDING TWO YEARS IN A SUBWAY TUBE

MUCH OF THE ANCIENT WORLD WOULD STILL BE A MYSTERY WITHOUT MY EMERGENCE
