A fun “Mostly Request Thursday” today with Jim and Justin.

Tomorrow in the air-chair from 9 to noon it’s Barry Scott’s Lost 45’s.  He’s got a great show lined up…as Co-Host Stephen Bishop chats about his hits including “On and On” and movie songs he was involved with from “Animal House” to “Tootsie”—plus people he worked with including Eric Clapton, Donna Summer, Phil Collins and Barbra Streisand. You can also catch that show Saturday night from 6 to 9 PM Eastern time.

Also on the weekend, Randy Edwards hosts “Edwards’ Archives.   This weekend Randy takes us to March the 25th of the year 1971!  Join in the fun with Randy, Saturday at 8 AM and Sunday at 3PM, brought to you by the Lamplight Grill in downtown Ionia

On the J and J Midday show, The guys talked about using “Patreon” for those people who have requested  a way to support WION, though they listen far away.  The conversation was sparked by a text sent to the show from Florida:

Good morning again! Dustin from Safety Harbor (sometimes I show up from Clearwater
as well). Love the new website and was just wondering if you have away for those us
outside of your terrestrial range to support the station with tips or donations?
Just appreciate what you all have built and would love to help support you all!

We really appreciate the kind thoughts!  It is possible we may do that, the drawback being that it is a “subscription” as we understand it…for instance, like $5  a month which the supporter could turn on and off.   FCC rules require us to identify our sponsors, so we’d be thanking those who may support our services via Patreon via the web and mention on the air as well.  We’re still mulling this over.  You can file comments with us by scrolling down to the “reply” on this page.  (keep scrolling,  you’ll see it.)

Sunday…don’t miss the newest of our feature shows, hosted by Tommy Kay…and don’t forget, you can call in requests to his special “Tommy Hotline” of 844-80-TOMMY…..as he hosts the “Totally 80’s Flashback” from 8 to 11AM on Sunday!

IN THE AGE OF STREAMING, PEOPLE STILL WANT PHYSICAL MEDIA!

I was fortunate this past weekend to attend an event in Akron, Ohio with two very good friends. The event was postponed from January due to bad weather and I was the beneficiary of being able to attend on the delayed date.  The event was called "Dead Media Market" and, […]
