WION Owner and Midday Co-host who thinks Zombies should be given voting rights... (And when he passes away he wants to come back as "Grumpy Cat")

Background

The J and J Midday Show with Jim and Justin

Jim and Justin are the "J and J Midday Show" on WION. (Left to right above it's Justin then Jim)  Jim was at the helm of WION's weekday morning show for 15 years, then decided middays suited him better!  So, weekday mornings still has music and information, just no Jim. Justin joined WION in early 2021, training on the midday show, and just "stayed!"  The quick banter btween the two, […]

Jim’s jokingly called himself a “dinosaur” of broadcasting, now 34 years behind the microphone. He’s been on the air in Jackson,  Battle Creek, Lansing, Escanaba, Hillsdale, Angola, IN, Bryan Ohio, and of course, here in Ionia as owner and morning/midday host. Jim’s a collector of old and odd radios and electronics, has decorated WION’s studios with his collection, and is quite passionate about RADIO, but has low tolerance for what he calls “Corporate Bullshit.” Off-air time is spent with his 12 year old puppy, “Isabelle” who is part of the J and J Midday show. See her page on this site!

Jim also spends much of his time working at the repair bench at WION on classic electronics, old radios, TVs, and just to be away from phones, emails, and all things modern. It’s like his “den.”

Aside from the station “show notes” (blog) page, Jim writes now and then on the broadcasting industry and on other things.  You can see past (and maybe some other newer things coming) at any of his following blogs:

NOTES FROM WION-AMERICA’S BIGGEST LITTLE RADIO STATION
(now replaced with “show notes on this website)

(And Finally…..)
I promised myself I’d keep this man on my station website as long as I own WION.
He was incredibly supportive of my career choice, and proud when visiting
on the first day we brought WION back to life.
I’m forever grateful.

The Rev. Reginald Angus, Episcopal Deacon, Retired. in the “command module” of the station, Autumn 2004 as he visited. Looks “right at home” at the microphone!
“Thanks for the memories, the voice, and your encouragement!”
