It’s hard to believe but it’s been ten years since wion started the annual “Treasures for Troops” campaign. Ten years of your generous donations and putting smiles on the faces of military members far from home. This year, WION has happily turned over the event to our partner, the Blue Star Mothers of Ionia, Kent, and Montcalm counties, and we fully support their collecting, packing, and mailing as always.
So, things are a little different this year. You can drop off your donations at the Ionia moose lodge on east Lincoln, during their regular hours or…drop them at Reurink Roofing and Siding Sales on Lincoln, where it separates from M-21 on Ionia’s West side.
The Blue Star Mothers also welcome your monetary donations so they can shop locally to fill more boxes! Send your monetary donations to: IKM Blue Star Mothers, PO Box 380, Sheridan MI 48884as soon as you can, so they can shop from the “needs list” which you’ll find on the top of the page of www.i1430.com.
It’s a little different this year, as we won’t be doing our remote broadcasts, but…YOU Still can give as you have in the past, and the blue star mothers are proud to take on the “heavy lifting” of the event by sorting, boxing, and sending the items overseas. I’m sure if you want to donate of your time, you can do that too…Email for information on how to help, or your availability to: treasures4troops@gmail.com. WION is proud to have started this tradition, and grateful that the Blue Star Mothers will carry it on in 2024. Please help them out, and get their “needs list” at the top of the page of this website, www.i1430.com.
Our thanks go out to Veronica DePotty who has helped us through the efforts of her Lakewood Youth Group for many years! They’ve collected a van FULL of donations…AND…..she also reached out to the folks staffing the Unemployment Insurance office in Grand Rapids who not only collected, but organized and boxed their donations for “Treasures for Troops!” WION thanks all of you for helping out!
